PTA Board Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, May 4, 2004

Call to Order The Maxwell Escuela de Immersion en Espanol PTA Board meeting was called to order at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2003 by President Jamie Shier.  Deanna Rawlings as recording secretary.

Roll Call Those in attendance were:  Monica Fowler, Ann Armbruster, Jamie Shier, Stephanie Hamilton, Holly Clark, Michelle Gardner, Jody Casella, Sherri Ball, Dawn Hughes, Kelly Feibes, Tammy Margolies, Cindy Crane, Christin Helmuth, Kari Simon, Christina Bell, Deanna Rawlings.

Approval of Minutes The April 2003 minutes were approved as presented.

Treasurer’s Report Family Night brought  in a lot of money. The donations and fundraisers are looking great.  We will come close to our $23,000 budget.  We will probably be at our expense budget for this year. 

The budget for 2004-05 was presented and the changes were pointed out.  A small surplus is planned.  It was approved.  Voting results were 15 Y, 1 N, 1 A.

President’s Report $379 was collected for Ms. Spurlin and a gift card and perfume decanter was given to her during a surprise faculty meeting. 

Jamie passed out her thank-you gifts to the board. 

May 24 is the last Maxwell Night at Coldstone Creamery with Missy Butler as celebrity scooper

Principal’s Report  Susan Deaton needs parent input in SBDM considerations for student achievement.  An explanation and questionnaire was handed out.

Old Business Stephanie Hamilton reports $10,382 and 173 donations for Invest in your Child have been received. 

Jody Casella asked for help on behalf of the SBDM committee in the principal search.  $5,000 is needed for additional ads and also networking.

New Business Dawn Hughes is presenting for the 5th grade on May 21 from 6:30-8:00.  They are cooking out on the playground.  It’s just for the kids, with dessert for the parents at 8:00.  They will receive a middle school survival kit. 

Marianne Kuhn and Tammy Margolies brought examples for the Taste of Maxwell which will be Oct. 23 from 3-7.  They will have a gently used booksale and need a chairperson and PR chair.   

Dana Sartin reported that teacher appreciation week is going well.  

Innisbrook sales will be Aug. 25-Sept. 15. 

The volunteer breakfast will be on May 14.

Next PTA meeting on Tuesday, September 7, at 6:30 p.m.
