PTA Board Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, April 6, 2004

Call to Order The Maxwell Escuela de Inmersión en Español PTA Board meeting was called to order at 6:12 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004 by President Jamie Shier.  Deanna Rawlings as recording secretary.

Roll Call  Those in attendance were: Jamie Shier, Michelle Gardner, Jody Casella, Sherri Ball, Deanna Rawlings, Dana Sartin, Stephanie Hamilton, Ann McKinley, Kelly Feibes, Michaela Giles, Michael Price, Cindy Crane, Dee Lawless.

Approval of Minutes March minutes correction:  Donations of 20% total Cold Stone sales or 50 cents per order, whichever is higher for Maxwell.  Minutes approved as corrected.

Treasurer’s Report March was a relatively inactive month, with only $452 in income and $434 in expenses.  That is a little misleading because of the way we account for Noches Latina.  We brought in $996 in March for that activity and paid out $922 in fees and supplies.  Because Noches Latina is not a fundraiser for the PTA, we do not recognize the income as “income” but rather just charge expenses against.  We expect that we will not lose money on this activity, and so far we are in the black, but we do not anticipate any excess money from it either. 

Our total fundraising activities stand at $19,744 raised compared to a $22,850 budget, or 86% of our goal. 

We have $23,382 in the bank.

President’s Report Jamie asked for approval of the slate for next year.  She pointed out that positions with 2 chairs are so that one person will be trained to take over the following year as chair.

Motion to approve the 2004-05 slate was passed.

Principal’s Report   Fun Day is May 21 and also the 5^th grade reception.  CATS testing 4/26-5/7, portfolios 5/6 & 5/7.  DARE graduation is 5/11 at 9:00.  Kindergarten orientation is 5/13 from 6-7:00 p.m. 

Susan started a discussion about having an orientation for the entire school in August before 8/16.

Old Business None

New BusinessCindy Crane is working on setting up the dates in late Aug./early Sept. for the Innisbrook sales.  She is also busy coordinating the supply list and sales for the beginning of the year. 

4/19 is the last Champ’s skate night. 

Dana Sartin is coordinating Teacher Appreciation Week.  From 5/3-5/7 there will be breakfast each morning.  Each grade will provide a day.  A committee will provide a luncheon on Friday. 

Dee Lawless passed a sign-up for SBDM election volunteers. 

Ann McKinley has the chili supper under control.  Needs volunteers for the bookfair.
