Maxwell Escuela de Inmersión en Español PTA Board Meeting

May 6, 2003

Call to Order                The Maxwell Escuela de Inmersion en espanol PTA Board meeting was     called to order at 6:05pm Tuesday May 6, 2003 in the Maxwell cafeteria by president Monica Fowler.  Danielle Tussey as recording secretary.

 

Roll Call                       Those in attendance were:  Monica Fowler, Michelle Gardner, Sherri Ball, Ann McKinley, Grace Ng, Ann Armbruster, Stephanie Hamilton, Lydia R. Wainwright, Jamie Shier, Melissa Wallace, Liz Gordon, Danielle Tussey, Fabio E. Zuluaga, Jody Casella, Cindy Crane, Angie Cox, Kelly Feibes, Kay Saffari, Michaela Giles and Andy and Lori Cohen.

 

Approval of Minutes     Monica Fowler made motion to accept the April 2003 minutes.  Ann Armbruster second the motion.

 

Treasurer’s Report       Members looked at next years budget.  Michelle Gardner made motion to accept the budget.  Sherri Ball second the motion and all approved. 

                                   

                                    The audit review in July will be done by Monica fowler, Grace Ng and Ann McKinley.

 

                                    Things to consider with next years budget:  Melissa Wallace gave information for the CD project.  Maxwell will have to purchase a CD burner, $1,500.00 for a good one or $1,000.00 for an average one.  Also, three presentations/plays in Spanish that would take place at the amphitheater could total $1,500.00 but this cost is being looked into to make sure it isn’t $1,500.00 per play.

 

 

Old Business                The basketball goal is up but the mat is coming off and that will be fixed.  The salad bar is going great and it will be open to third graders tomorrow.

 

New Business               Dee Lawless says that teacher appreciation is going okay.  She is taking care of the special area teachers using the money in the budget.

 

                                    Sherri and Stephanie will put something together for Invest In Your Child for next year.

 

                                    Kay Saffari presented the school supply list and prices and it will be reviewed and decided on later.

 

                                    Volunteer appreciation breakfast will be May 23, 2003 at 7:30am .

                                   

Principal’s Report         Recognition assembly, June 5, 2003 at 8:40am

                                    Fifth grade promotion and program, June 6, 2003 at 9:00am

                                    Third grade parent planning meeting, May 29, 2003 at 6:00pm

                                    Kindergarten program, May 23, 2003 at 12:40pm

                                    Spanish Summer Camp, June 16, 2003 June 25, 2003 , 8:30am-12:00pm

                                    Early reading summer program (in English), July 21, 2003 August 8, 2003

                                   

                                    There is a good process in place to find a new principal.           

                                    Report cards will be sent home June 6, 2003 along with fall class assignments.

 

Presidents Report         Presentations and thanks-you’s were made to board members, Monica and Dr. Zuluaga.
