Call To Order The Maxwell Escuela de Inmersion en Espanol PTA Board

Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm Tuesday January 7, 2003 in the Maxwell cafeteria by president Monica Fowler. Danielle Tussey as recording secretary.

Roll Call Those in attendance were: Monica Fowler, Melissa Wallace, Sherri Ball, Jody Casella, Ann McKinley, Ann Armbruster, Jamie Shier, Stephanie Hamilton, Liz Gordon, Michelle Gardner, Susan Wright, Fabio E. Zuluaga, Cindy Crane.

Approval of Minutes Ann McKinley made a motion to accept the minutes. Monica Fowler second the motion.

Treasurer Report No report (copy of income and expense statement from January 2003 is attached). Monica asked about the $400.00 receipt for the teacher holiday luncheon. A copy of the receipt will be provided to treasurer.

President’s Report Yearbook sale brochure goes out next week. Mr. Tibbitts wants us to look over the brochure before it is distributed.

Monica is out of town February 4, 2003 so the next meeting will be February 11, 2003 at 6:30pm.

Happy meal toys have arrived for next years Taste of Maxwell.

Principal Report Not all teachers came back after holiday due to illness. It has been a challenging beginning of the school year. Mr. Moreland has resigned and taken a job in Virginia. Ann Geddes will be replacing Mr. Moreland. The three teachers from Spain will return Monday.

Chess Club starts Friday January 10, 2003.

The SBDM monthly meetings will be on the first Monday of the month at 4pm.

There will be a follow-up to the closing of the gap session that happened in December. A date and time will be determined later.

All students first through fifth grade will be retested this month.

Fundraising Report Melissa Wallace talked about a possible date for the Invest In Your Child event.

Michelle Gardner made a motion to have the event as a thank you to all supporters in acknowledging the success of Invest In Your Child. Jody Casella and Ann Armbruster second the motion. The board voted and there were 5 yes and 1 no.

New Business January 21, 2003, Dr. Ed Amend child psychologist will present an informational session for parents who have children in the primary talent pool or in Quest. Jody Casella would like the PTA to provide money for refreshments for this meeting. Monica will be contacting Mrs. Rhodes (Quest) and Allison Hays the hospitality person about the event.

Adjournment Monica Fowler adjourned the meeting at 7:37pm.
